Icon Problem Hello everyone,
i've just installed windows 7 starter 2 days ago..after the first update all the icons (or almost everyone) got blank symbol. i know it is a common problem but i've tried with different solutions without success. I tried deleting the IconCache.db file and installing IconCache Rebuilder. Any advice?
Here some printscreen:
Thank You

Hello Bulldozer, and welcome to Seven Forums.
Seems like a issue with your shortcut arrow overlay icon. First, see if downloading and merging the lnk (LNK) option in the tutorial below may help. Default File Type Associations - Restore If not, then using the program in OPTION ONE to change the shortcut arrow back to the default arrow should. Shortcut Arrow - Change, Remove, or Restore Hope this helps,

Do the icons look like that in the start menu ? In the past I`ve used Vista Visual Master to get rid of the shortcut arrow. Now I never have icons on the desktop, they use memory. You could try copying and pasting and icon from the start menu and see if it displays properly.
I also dug this up.
Go to Start all programs accessories and right click on command prompt select “run as administrator”
Code:
type:- taskkill /im explorer.exe /f press enter( Your desktop icons will disappear )Now type each line and press enter after each line. Note the spaces.CD %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Localattrib -h IconCache.dbdel IconCache.dbNow type exit and press enterReboot to take effect | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Built by Me ! Bulldozer,
It's appears that it has also affected your Folder icon association. See if downloading and merging the Folder option in the same tutorial below may help. Ok Bulldozer,
Next on the list is to see if running a sfc /scannow command may help in case there's something wrong with the system file that holds the folder icon. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Self built custom OS 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 & Windows 8 Enterprise CPU Intel i7-3930K 3.2 Ghz (O/C 4 Ghz) Motherboard ASRock X79 Extreme11 Memory 32 GB (8GBx4) G.SKILL DDR3 Quad PC3-19200 2400MHz Graphics Card Sapphire HD5870 Eyefinity 6 2GB Sound Card SB Recon 3Di Integrated Chip Monitor(s) Displays 3x 27" Asus VE278Q Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution Mouse Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution PSU OCZ Series Gold OCZZ1000M 1000W Case Thermaltake Level 10 GT Snow Edition Cooling Corsair Hydro H100 Hard Drives 256GB OCZ Vector
