    Unable to have a wallpaper

    Hi Guys,

Hopefully one of your superior minds will be able to help me out here..?

I was using build 7264 and i ran one of the 'slmgr *' commands (i forget which one now sorry) and it suddenly came up with the water mark telling me my copy of windows was not genuine. Now my fault i know for being so inquisitive but nevertheless what's done is done lol!

So anyway i decided it was time to upgrade to RTM which i did successfully. I then activated the OS and all was good again.....
...EXCEPT I am unable to have a wallpaper anymore.

Obviously this is a hangover from my 'non genuine' alerts but i just wondered if anyone had any bright ideas before i go for a clean install?

    Many Thanks,

Do a clean install of W7 and get rid of the left over garbage from your hard drive... problem solved...

    Yeah thanks,

I'm aware of that option but can't really face a re-install just yet ( for some reason my DELL hangs for about 30mins at two points during the OS installation )

    hi,

i think u can set ur wallpaper but only for once u boot
then i wish after each boot ur background becomes black.
if so happened i would like to say u that i also gone through this kind of probs n i may hav a solution of this without formatting ur previous installation.

Sorry Scorpionking i don't fully understand your reply.

I am not able to set the wallpaper at all. It lets me click on the wallpaper image i would like, but still it remains black (or any other colour; that, i am allowed to change lol)

I would be more concerned about your computer hanging up rather than a wallpaper issue... Please fill out your system specs and lets see whats causing this...

How did you activate the RTM???? If you have used any other method than a Genuine RTM Activation Key your system could be in reduced functionality mode.

That's a possibility but he probably has an MSDSAA account, or Tech Connect..

As said by Tews, a clean install would be recommended. Even though you've activated it, the symptoms appears as if windows is not genuine.
