    Cannot associate 'Open with..' PowerDVD11.exe

    Hello.:)

No major problem here, but when I right click on a movie/Open with.../Choose default program.. /browse, select PowerDVD11.exe and click Open, it doesn't appear in my list of programs to use. Other programs that are in my default list are WMP, VLC, PotPlayer and some others. So no idea why PowerDVD.exe doesn't appear after selecting it. It's there on my laptop which is also windows 7, but just not on my desktop. Odd! Any suggestions? Many thanks. Btw, I opened Control Panel then Default Programs/set your default programs but it doesn't appear on the list on the left.

    Hello Roman,

See if it PowerDVD will stay listed if doing the below, but making sure that you have the Always use the selected program to open this kind of file box checked. Be sure that you are also click on the arrow to expand the Other Programs section to see if it may be listed under it. :)

Open With - Change Default Program

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Thanks Brink. Yeah, I'd done all those steps, including expanding the arrow and looking in the Other Programs section below Recommended Programs. Interestingly, I just tried selecting one of the other PowerDVD exes called 'PDVDLaunchPolicy.exe' and that DOES get selected and is now in my 'Opens with..' context menu when I right click a movie. Fortunately, it works the same as the regular PowerDVD11.exe and it opens PowerDVD and plays the movie. So, it's a workaround but it works. Thanks for your help :)

Ah, it appears that you just used the wrong exe file for PowerDVD for this before. I'm happy to hear that you got it sorted. :)

Actually no, I didn't use the wrong one before because selecting PowerDVD11.exe on my laptop worked fine, and right clicking to show the laptop's context menu it says 'PowerDVD 11' whereas now on my desktop it says 'PDVDLaunchPolicy Application'. Weird why it doesn't work on the desktop. The trial of PowerDVD 12 worked fine on my desktop, just not version 11 for some odd reason. Oh well, at least I can still open it from right clicking a movie.
