Windows 7: Is Win8 really better than 7?

There's not going to be a simple "better" answer ... because your question is entirely subjective. What you would view as "better" in terms of what you want out of Win8 (like touch screen, for example), I would view as "worse" (because I don't want or need touch screen support).

There's info out there with list after list of Win8 improvements over Win7, and some of those have been linked here in this forum in some threads.

If you're really interested, you should read through those lists and see if the "improvements" being claimed by Microsoft in Win8 are really things you need or want.

If they are, then by definition, Win8 is "better" -- for you.

Is Win8 really better than 7?

Opinions do & will vary.

Resistance to change usually prevails.

IMHO tis far better to do your own research re the "facts /statistics/ evidence tested" & presented thus far.
The opportunity is there to "play" with it.
Make up your own mind about what is considered appropriate.... or otherwise.

It all comes down to personal preference and needs.

I don't like touchscreens, so on my cell phone, I keep one with a physical slide-out keyboard. This doesn't mean slide-out keyboards are "better" and everybody should believe it...it's just that is what I prefer to use and will continue to use as long as I can, or until touch screens radically improve.

Consensus seems to be that with which I completely agree: each to their own preference.

If you like it, you use it. If you don't, carry on with what you do like.

I fall into the latter category, but that is my preferrred choice and I would not criticise another's choice. Too much intolerance elsewhere in the world, for us to give a home to it here, right?
