RFID/Smart Card Authentication for Roaming User Profiles? Hi forum,
I was recently approached by a friend who wants to up the security in their store and they asked about a RFID or Smart Card network that authenticates Roaming User Profiles... I'm not sure if that's clear enough? I have no idea how to ask about it, how to do it or even phrase it cause if I did I wouldn't be hating google for being so restrictive. Lol. So I'm asking here... I told him to do it but he doesn't like forums for some reason.
He owns and operates a gaming and custom pc cafe where I live, and would like to go a bit more modern/high tech with the entire system. I told him what I know he'd need for sure, that being a central or "main" pc/server which would act as the Windows Domain (something) I believe, which in turn would hold all the data for authentication purposes. He'd also be needing card readers for each pc and/or thing he wanted to include in the network.
What he's proposing is a rather elaborate system, which incorporates each "user" having a card (whichever type) that would act like a AAA card, not literally but it would be used for doors, like the entrance so the system would keep a track of who was in the store for security and emergency reasons, access to computers for gaming and general use (this would be for like custom desktops and settings, etc. Also would be used for tracking who's using what computer, when they use it and for how long).
Ugh, this is all rather hard to ask and explain because I'm still trying to get my head around it completely myself... and it takes a flipping lot to confuse and baffle me!
Any info at this point is helpful... as I've gotten almost nowhere so far, lol. I'll do my best to answer any questions anybody has, fingers crossed I can!
Thanks.
P.S: I didn't know where to ask/post this... so I chose the easiest of them all and went with General. |
