followed a guide to optimise my windows 7 (this one) step 8 says set unused services to manual, i figured id go a step further and find out which services i could disable, and i found this

just trying to make sure, or have someone skim through this, and make sure i didnt do anything bad :)

    thanks guys!

You get no added benifit by setting them to disabled. If you set them to manual and they are never called they wont go on, but disable them and if needed the service will fail and others along with it.

Will you actually remember which you disabled 6 months fro now when you install soething new that needs a disabled service?

yeah the services were a little over my head so i used this list, compared them to the ones i changed in that bs guide, and put them all back to factory defaults...

i ended up using Windows 7 | Black Viper | www.blackviper.com to reset my services to default this way.

i downloaded the correct default file, and right clicked and selected merge. it said it was added to the registry. did this work?
