    Explorer.exe (I guess) freezes

hello guys, nice forum you've got here!

anyway, I'm having a biiiig problem with my laptop (right in the midle of a college assignment) and this one I don't seem to get it fixed. so, a few days ago I installed connectifyme but, since it was trial version a uninstalled it yesterday using youruninstaller, and when it asked me if I wanted to reboot or wait I said wait, played skyrim for a couple hours and shut down the computer. today wanted to turn it on and it does start, but freezes with a white taskbar with no items. the desktop items are there but nothig happens when I click. tried to open the task maneger but it is has been trying to open it for 3hours.
already did a system restore with setting from 3 days ago and nothing changed.
already tried to fix windows start with the windows 7 cd but no luck.

    any ideas?
    greetings from Portugal

Bom dia Bernardo and welcome to SevenForums,

Can you open an elevated command prompt (cmd window) and then type:

    sfc /scannow <enter>

After it finishes, please post the contents of the window in your next reply.

    Obrigado,
    Golden

Can you boot your machine in "Safe Mode"?

cannot press start, therefore don't know how to open a cmd window.

yes, I can boot it in safe mode, already did in order to restore the system.

(should I write in english or Portuguese is ok? lol)

    Hi,

Post in English - my apologies, I know a smattering of Portugeuse and just decided to welcome you with a few phrases.

In Safe mode, can you open a cmd window?

    Hi,

OK. I think its probably best to try a Repair Install from the Windows 7 DVD. Please follow this tutorial for doing that:

    Repair Install

I'll ask gregrocker to keep an eye on this thread, as its 1am here now, and time for bed.

    Regards,
