Unknown Glitch - Animated Screen Saver Maker . Document

Everytime I right click, scroll to ''New'' among all the other things ( Folder, Briefcase, Text Document, etc.) , I see not only one, but two things labeled as ''Animated Screen Saver Maker. Document". When I click either of them, they both turn out to be new Windows Photo Viewer Documents. But when I create these new document, they have a strange name : ''New Animated Screen Saver. Document. asw; .jp;g;.jpeg;.jpe;.jf;if,.bmp;''. It is probably a glitch but I suspect it could be spyware or malware.I have not installed anything recently. Does anyone have suggestions to this problem? Or any registry changes?

It might be Spyware by the sounds of things... i have not heard anything about Malware doing things like that... You could check around on other forums for the same problem, or just wait for others to come along and reply to tell you the answer, it's all your call.

Thank you. I have attached two pictures to show you what my problem looks like (It wasn't really easy trying to explain my predicament and I may have ended up confusing you a bit). So as you can see,all the files that are created by "Animated Screen Saver. Document" are .png files. Hope this helps with finding the cause of this problem.

Did you just do right click + Save As? That might be the problem with things. I have an animated screensaver and I had to use right click + save as link. Try saving it as a link, it might work that way, if not than I do not know.

I have found the root cause:
While I was looking at the registry, I decided to look for the .png extension. After finding nothing wrong with it. I decided to look for Animated Screen Saver. Document on regedit. To my success, I had found it. and I looked into its default registry keys. I found an startup path, which was C:\ PROGRA~1\DPANIM~1. I remembered that I had uninstalled something called DP Animator (practically useless animation software, hence why I uninstalled it ) about 2 months ago. But the problems only surfaced recently. So I came to guess that the application left some keys behind in the registry after it was uninstalled. So I reinstalled the application through a third party installer/uninstaller with registry tracing ( It's called Full Uninstall ), reuninstalled the software and used the tracing feature to remove any keys left ( the number of which turned out to be 165). Hence the two morals of this thread are DP Animator is worse than crap and its always good to trace what you install. But thank you Black Sparrow, for you were the only person to come to my aid in this problem.

After I installed Win7 64 to dual boot with Win732, and fixed the boot menu to show both options (thanks to those of you that helped with that), I somehow lost the animated boot screen splash. I now have the "Vista" green bar. Is there a setting somewhere that controls this? jjw ND
