    Hello Harry,

    When you right click on the Recent Places icon, do you have a "Delete" option to remove it with?

    If not, then download and merge the REG file below, then restart the computer to see if it may be able to
    remove this desktop icon for you.

    Thanks for your help, but I've managed to remove the recent places from my desktop now :) opened windows explorer then right clicked on the recent places library folder, and clicked sent to desktop, which then over-ride the version I couldn't delete, it then allowed me to delete the shortcut :)

Hi guys n girls, I have for ever got sick and tired of right click -> open Send to Menu and creating a Desktop Shortcut for a file or app....then needing to go to the Desktop right click the newly made shortcut and then removing the trailing file extension, dash and words shortcut in brackets....

today I realised that I had a recent places icon on my desktop. I tried right clicking it to delete but there's no option to do so. I'm a bit anal about what's on my desktop so I would love some help in removing it
