I prefer a bootable DVD because my computer is old and the BIOS don't support booting from a USB Drive. The method to do so is at Burn Disc Image - ISO or IMG file. However you can do this intuitively with most burning software.

Once you are armed with one of them (bootable DVD or Pen Drive), then and then alone you shall be able to boot into the Windows environment. If you have never made a bootable disk/USB just take the image to a computer savvy friend with a blank DVD and he shall do it for you easily in a few minutes. The burning speed should not exceed 4 as higher speeds might create a defective disk. But before that please try out the advise from gregrocker and if that works then you may be saved all the hassle. But even if you succeed you should still complete the project of creating a bootable DVD for the future.

Please tell the what course you have followed. Good luck.

i did burn the iso to a dish and ran it took me to the install windows screen and then it wont let me recover or restore
Were you able to click 'Repair your computer'? What exactly happens when your in the WinRE (Windows recovery environment) i.e. booted off the disk?

wont let me restore or repair says that i need to restart and select my operating system first

Follow the option 1 here to open a command prompt- Command Prompt at Startup
Enter the following commands one at a time:
Code:
bootrec /rebuildbcd
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
shutdown /r /t 0

OK. You now have a bootable Windows 7 Setup DVD and you are able to boot from it. What options do you get on the Windows install screen? Normally you get an option Repair your Computer on the bottom left. Didn't you?

Did you try out the suggestion given by gregrocker and if you did what happened?

You'll need to boot into the System Recovery Options on the DVD or using the F8 key at boot.

Focus on doing this as it cannot be repaired unless you can do this, which everyone else is able to do.

Click the blue link to make sure you are following the steps correctly.

Once you get into the Repair console, report back exactly what happens. If no installation is found, click through to Recovery Tools to type bootrec /fixboot and bootrec /fixmbr to see if it will force an installation to show up for repair. Then highlight the installation and run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times.
Make sure Win7 partition or it's 100mb System Reserved partition (preferred) is marked Active first: Partition - Mark as Active (Method Two).
