    windows cannot find c:/ ????

Nearly zer programs, control panel items, sound can be accessed on my childs computer. The files are still there but windows says cant find.... Some programs still work like Network access, Internet Explorer, explorer, a few downloaded games, superantispyware (which found no virus) Other virus software can't be accessed. Everything works fine in SAFE MODE except sound. Some updates can't be done in safe mode though. No error number pops up. Did I loose a .DLL? Virus? There is a rundll36.exe.mui file I am thinking about removing. I do have 2 copies of the regular rundll.exe file. My computer is English so I don't know why i would need a .mui. hmmm, anything?? I have win7 Ultimate x36 HP Tablet. no servicepack, and don't want it.

I'd try running a system file checker scan to see if any system files have been damaged or corrupted. Run it from an elevated command prompt (option two, this tutorial.) If any problems are noted run the scan 3 times rebooting in between each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
