chkdsk on startup
Is it common for chkdsk to run approx every 8 startups for no apparent reason?

No other symptoms at all. Windows 7 is running like a dream otherwise. The only issue I'm facing is how much it's going to cost to buy when it comes out here in October
The only other thing I could think of is that because I built the computer, there could be some settings that haven't been set correctly in the bios? I haven't touched the bios apart from changing the memory to run at the correct frequency.
You might check this registry seting. Just see what it's set to. I don't know for sure but it may have been changed somehow. Let us know what you find.
How to disable Check Disk (chkdsk) at startup in Vista | Windows Reference
It looks like the Bootexecute is set to autocheck autochk *
There shouldn't be anything wrong with disabling it?
It should not hurt anything. You would want to run it from time to time. You should change it and see if it fixes your problem.
