Unassociate a file type

    Unassociate a file type


    When my husband tries to download an attachment from his e-mail in yahoo, it opens in windows media player. This does not happen on my side of the computer. I was told I need to unassociate a file type. How do I do this?

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

    Navigate to Start>Control Panel>Programs>Default Programs>Set Associations.

    Unassociate a file type-capture.png

    Select the file extension then click Change Program.
