Desktop creating two copies of files when moving items to desktop..

I've searched and I get not even one link on this. I have a clean install of Windows 7 plus Firefox and Dell Drivers.. My problem is it creates a ghost like file that really isn't there because if I delete one, the other becomes inaccessible and I have to manually refresh using F5. Also, when I restart my computer it also is creating duplicates of files and shortcuts. Even when I install software it creates two short cuts.. I can deal with having to manually refresh, but I cannot deal with it creating duplicates of everything.
Here is an image that will further confuse you.

I can't see anything other than a folder shortcut in your snip? But, with your problem, have you by chance "taken ownership" of any system folders - particularly the "Documents and Settings" folder. This action can often produce the effects you are experiencing.

I was showing you that in the Desktop window it only shows one folder, but when you look at the desktop itself it shows two folders even though there is only one folder there. It's like there is a ghost image there but nothing physical. Because like I said, if I delete one of them they both are gone. To answer your other question no, I have not done that. I don't even know how. I just installed Windows like a day ago and it's already being a hassle. Might just downgrade if 1 day in, there is already problems.

Hi there. I'm having the same problem that the above user described - wondering whether you could help me out by expanding on what you meant by taking ownership of folders producing this effect? Before the same problem with my comp started one of the biggest changes I made was changing the location of my Users folder from the default C drive to another, larger drive, and I've got a good feeling that that's the cause of my problems - just no idea how to solve it.

My own thread detailing the problem on my computer here:

Desktop Bug? Creating Duplicate Instances Of Same File

Would really appreciate the help. Thanks.

If I understand you correctly. You are having the wrong impression. Example.
You have two desktops. Not really, it's just two ways of getting to the same place.
