Chosing the new HP dv6!

Hello guys!
I am planing to change my 3 years old laptop with the new generations of hp dv6...but they are a bit expensive and i do need some advice chose one of them!

the only difference is the processor and i don't know to much about them,but it was rummored both of them to get the new Ivy Bridge generation CPUs!
I know it would be better to get a desktop,but i do lot's of traveling and i need to take the laptop with me to keep in touch with my familly!
As well i am using the laptop for photoshop,blu ray movies and from time to time games(but not so important the games).
Should i wait to see what's coming up or should i buy one of them!

By virtue of the fact you use Adobe Photoshop I'd go for the more expensive DV6-7061sa.

You get a faster processor, a bigger hard drive and more RAM, but only you can decide whether it justifies paying the extra £100.

With HP's load of bloatware you'll want to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Or until then you can try to Clean Up Factory Bloatware - Windows 7 Forums

But they were saing that the laptop will be equiped with the new ivy bridge...and it doesn't look like that...i was thinking to wait untill next month to see if they will put the ivy bridge in the option...because i wouldn't mind paying that extra £100,and as well i would upgrade the RAM memory and i would put ssd on the laptop...

Well the laptop comes with W7 Home premium...so first thing i would put W7 ultimate x64,just so i don't have any problems!

There is no difference in performance between Win7 versions whatsoever, only a few extra expensive features in Ultimate which most users do not need.

I would not waste the $100+ value OS which comes with the HP, but instead use your Ultimate license elsewhere unless you know for sure you need one of the few extra features in Ultimate: Compare Windows - Microsoft Windows

Sorry to disappoint you, but whether you use Home Premium or Ultimate, shouldn't make a scrap of difference in terms of perceived Windows problems.

If you're intent on spending more money, buy a laptop with an SSD instead of paying extra for Windows Ultimate. If you don't need Bitlocker or the multi-language support there's not much benefit on upgrading to it.

So that means,keep the windows that comes with it...buy an ssd...upgrade the ram memory(usually dv6's support max 8gb) and that should do the trick?

The SSD and extra RAM would certainly give you a performance boost.

Why don't you widen your search and consider other manufacturers as well as HP?

As for Windows, Greg gave you to two links to clean install whichever version of Windows you decide on. His post #3 refers to them.

Well i was thinking about samsung series 9,but i want a 15.6 inch laptop...and with hp i have to say,i have heard bad things about them...but i didn't had any problems with my laptop and i bought it in spring 2009...upgrade it to blu ray,an ssd recentlly...it works very well...but as i said,it's time for a new laptop...and i got a good impresion about the hp..i didn't had any problems with the laptop at all...even the batery didn't change it and still goes for about 2 hours....witch i have to say is not bad at all for a 3 years old laptop...
