Icons in My computer keep disappearing and thumbnail problems

    The Thumbnail cache will have nothing to do with your drives sometimes showing up and sometimes not. That could be a possible hardware failure on your drive(s). The main way to check this is to click on My Computer, right click on each drive, go to Tools, and Check Disk.

    However, the fact that no DVD drives are showing up could mean this is a larger issue with the system itself. Are you running any antivirus at all? Have you installed anything relatively recently?

    Click "Oranize" tab then "Layout" make sure the three (3) items I have circled in yellow in the below picture are check marked. If not check mark them.

I have a certain number of program icons set to always show. They will show for a while and then disappear.:( I prefer not to pin to the taskbar. Thanks for any advice. Paul

win 7 x64 There are 2 or 3 applications that r running that have no icon in the systray. I have tried the reg fix of deleting the iconstrams and pasticonstreams. That fix DOES work but only temporarily. The next boot they may be there and may not be there. sometimes it holds for a coupla boots...
Icons Disappearing!!!

My icons on my desktop, taskbar, and my start menu keep disappearing. It happens randomly and some times they will reappear when i hover over them with the mouse or bring up a new program. Also some other icons throughout the system are missing and having problems. PLEASE HELP!!! 11389 11390
