Windows 7 Freezing , Blank Screens, Slow and High Memory usage

Hi All

I`m having serious problems with my windows 7 machine. It started yesterday when I was getting blank screens. TOday I turned on and its running very slow, freezing up and i noticed an svchost.exe process was using about 6gb of ram. I had to reboot about 5 times just to geta taskmanager up and then it would freeze up again.
I tried a windows restore to about 4 days before incase it was some virus but it hasnt fixed the problem. Everything is ok in safe mode and i`ve tried running dr web virus checker aswell as installing norton antivirus and malwarebytes on an old windows xp installation on the same pc but theyre not finding anything.

Any ideas? Really dont fancy having to reinstall windows.

Thanks

Paul

Try performing a clean boot to see what application is causing the issue. Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

Thanks. It seems ok now after I did a clean boot and also installed 3 different malware tools that found a couple of things. Nothing looked obvious though as to what was causing the problems but seems ok now.

chkdsk high memory usage / memory leak
Has anyone else noticed that chkdsk uses all available physical memory (if you let it run long enough)? I find that if I run chkdsk and watch the memory usage in task manager it jumps by about 50MB every 2 seconds or so until it either finishes or hits around 3.2GB at which point my physical...

High Memory usage in svchost with Windows Update
Hello all, I just noticed something and wanted to be sure or see if this is normal. When Windows Update checks for updates, svchost will jump up to ~500MB in usage, or after updates have been installed. It will stay there. If just checking for updates, but I don't install any, it will drop down to...

Memory Usage - Windows 7 too high
Does this look excessive? I am using a Sony Vaio and there are 142 processes which seem too high. The Physical Memory is 78% or higher typically. Could anyone advise?

Windows 7 random CPU usage and high physical memory usage!!!
Ok, I am literally KILLING myself over this! I installed Windows 7 64Bit over XP around a month ago and it was so good that I recommended it to my brother who was previously on XP too. We got him a copy of the 32bit version as he has only 2gb of memory, and he installed it on his machine....
