Windows 7: Computer randomly "sleeps" even while doing things?

I just reinstalled.

at least six times, including false-starts and a forgotten pasword :S.

I though I'd try our using UEFI, but it isn't easy (with some MB - like mine - not having UEFI supoport for CDFS and Windows disks not having the UEFI loader already configured.

Then I realize I forgot to reconfigure my BIOS (as I had updated it in hopes of improvements), and now I somehow broke the settings so even System Restore can't help.

Needless to say it's going to be a clean reinstall using MBR.

I'll be back if the problem has somehow returned.

To install to GPT you'll need to set the BIOS Boot order so that the listing for EFI Boot Disk is first to boot. Then follow these steps: UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with - Windows 7 Forums.

If you instead want to install using MBR formatted HD, make sure EFI Boot disk is taken out of boot order priority and set DVD then HD to boot first. Check for any other EFI settings, and under SATA controller set to AHCI to try install first.

I'm back on using MBR.

BSOD - Happens randomly. "Bad Pool Header", "DRIVER_VERIFIER"
Hi everyone, I recently have noticed more and more BSODs. I had this problem about 6 months ago and was able to track it down to drivers that came from Daemon tools. I cleared all that out and it fixed the issue. I don't think these new BSODs are related but they might be. This seems to be...

Hiding unused "removable storage" devices from "Computer" folder
Not a major issue, of course, purely cosmetic, but still a minor annoyance none-the-less: I have a number of card reader drives that I never use (haven't even removed that plastic cover tape from them to help keep the dust out) that show when viewing the "Computer" window that displays drives. ...

"Unexpected Shutdown" every time computer sleeps or hibernates
My laptop often suffers from BSOD after windows updates, and I grin and bear it until it stops, in 2 or 3 days, which it has always done in the past. However, this is insane. Since my computer installed updates last Saturday, I have not been able to put it to sleep or hibernate without having to...
