Some applications on Windows 7 will not print to printer on Mac OS

I have a HP PSC 3550 connected to my Mac and I have successfully added this printer to Windows 7.

I am able to print a test page from Windows 7. I am able to print from Openoffice. However, I cannot print from Wordpad or Notepad.

This is the event log entry:

The document Untitled - Notepad, owned by Mark, failed to print on printer \\MACS-COMPUTER\HP PSC 2350 series. Try to print the document again, or restart the print spooler.
Data type: NT EMF 1.008. Size of the spool file in bytes: 1184. Number of bytes printed: 0. Total number of pages in the document: 1. Number of pages printed: 0. Client computer: \\SEGO. Win32 error code returned by the print processor: 0. The operation completed successfully.

Note that if I connect the printer directly to my Windows 7 machine I can print from Wordpad and Notepad.

    Thanks,

    Mark

Have you tried downloading the printer driver from the HP web site and installing in on the Win 7 computer?

Yes. The HP site says that the driver is already part of Windows 7. I tried connecting the printer directly to my Windows 7 machine and Windows is able to find the driver and the printer works fine.

But when connected to the Mac OS machine only Openoffice programs can print from Windows.

So you want to connect the printer to a Mac then share it so you can print to it from Win 7? Is that correct?
Does it print correctly from the Mac?

One possible fix would be to leave it connected to the Win 7 computer and share it with the Mac.
