USB Hard drive gets detected/installs but doesn't show up.

    Continuation from this.

I've tried all steps but I can't seem to get to my hard drive.

    Windows 7 Professional 64x.
    Drivers Updated.
    Plugged in properly.
    Installed and uninstalled device driver.
Gave the drive a letter and changed the letter many times.
Hard drive is still working because I was just using it in my machine before I reinstalled Windows 7.
iomega case works fine because I used it with a 1tb drive last night.
Plugged it into many different USB ports and changed cables.

I've tried a lot of things to get this to work but I haven't been successful... It's nearly full and has all my work/software on it. When I plug it in to a USB port it installs it then disappears, even says that it installs successfully. You can see that it gets noticed in the device manager as: SPIF301 USB2SATA Bridge USB Device

If you can help in anyway at all, it will be much appreciated.

    Thank you for your time.

    timmi,
have you installed SP 1? Yes/no

    you can:
WIN | type WINVER | ENTER
to see if you have installed SP1

WIN=key with microsoft logo on top.

Why is the drive marked as Active?

Windows is probably looking for a bootloader on it, which may be why it's not being seen correctly.

You can use this tutorial to remove the Active flag from the drive. All being well, Windows will then see the drive correctly.

Actually, being marked as active is fine.

All of my drives, all of my usb sticks have the first partition marked as active.
