I'm still confused. The RTM version I have installed is NOT Business Ultimate it is Business Pro. So my question remains..... Can one use the license key from the Windows 7 Business Pro Ugrade to register a RTM version of Windows 7 business pro? I'm really not wanting to upgrade over the top of the RTM I've installed, I simply want to use the key from the upgrade copy to register the RTM as a ligit copy of Windows 7.

There is no "business" pro or ultimate.

There is simply W7 Home Premium, W7 Pro, or W7 Ultimate, and a few others that don't concern you.

If you have a key for Pro you can install Pro now and activate with your Pro key later.

So what you're telling me is that it doesn't make any difference that my license key will come from the less expensive Windows 7 Pro UPGRADE
than the more expensive "Full" version? What you're saying is that as long as I have a Windows 7 Pro RTM version installed I can use the product key from the Windows 7 Pro upgrade that I already have on order.

No, that is another issue and I don't know whether that will work or not.

You can not use a key from an upgrade version of Windows 7 to install a full version of Windows 7... That being said you can do a clean install, without entering the key, when the install is finished, you may then do an upgrade ( a double install ) and then use your upgrade key to register Windows 7. Its a convoluted method, but it works...

OK, so here's a revised question. If I already have the RTM installed and it's the full version of Windows 7 Pro (64-bit) and the license key from the upgrade version of Windows 7 Pro cannot be used to register the RTM, do you think that I'll be able to use the upgrade version to upgrade over the top of the RTM or will I have to reformat the HD and double install as you've noted in your response? Someone on another forum said that I would have to install Windows XP Pro on my computer before I could actually perform the upgrade as the installer needed to confirm an existing license of Windows XP to work. If Win7 works like Vista then the method you described will work as there were many articles on how to do this written for Vista.
