Problem with desktop shortcut icons

When I place a shortcut icon on desktop, it displays the icon with a windows icon on top of it. Is there a setting or work around for this ?

Hello mike !

You may try the instructions of the tutorial Shortcut Arrow - Change, Remove, or Restore to restore the default shortcut overlay arrow, and let us know the results.

Is this a new development? If yes, then do you remember what immediately previous action of yours make it start.

Problem is not with shortcut arrows, see attached, and nothing recently done that should effect this. Actually, have had this issue for a while. Shortcuts work fine, it's just an annoyance.........

Hello Mike,

From looking at your screenshot, this looks like a issue with the arrow overlay on the shortcut's icon. Try what Archie posted above to restore the default shortcut arrow. I'm pretty sure that will fix this issue for you.
