As I said before, upgrade install is not only possible, it works GREAT. So if you don't want to go through the whole clean install and all that that involves, feel free to give the upgrade install a try. Worst case, it doesn't work out well for you and you have to clean install, which is what others are advising you to do anyway, so you have nothing to lose by trying it and seeing if it works out for you as well as it did for me. GL however you go.
I'm sorry but I need to add-on to this post.

You have different hardware, different software..

Even one thing could trigger the entire thing corrupting. It may have gone well for you but it didn't go well for me (when I tried it ...). Some of my friends got it working perfectly, some had to completely reinstall everything (they were happy I made them back-up prior to the upgrades).

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Good point. It may not work as well for every possible configuration as it did for me. (And I should note that I did have to reinstall my security software (AV & Firewall), but I expected that and it only took a couple of minutes.) Even a clean install does not always work well for every configuration.

But as I said, before, there is no harm in giving an upgrade install a try, assuming one has everything properly backed up, which should always be done whether one is upgrading, clean installing or just generally whether installing a new OS or not.

    Hi

Just to add my experience here. I have Build 7600 (From Technet)installed on 3 PC's, two were upgrades and one was a clean install to see the differences (Similar software profiles on all three PC's)

The only issue that I have experienced so far, is that PowerDVD, Virtual Clone Drive and Avast all needed to be re-installed. Otherwise the Upgrade seems to have worked without any major issues for me.

    Regards
