Unable to update anything in Windows 7

Hi guys, I am using Windows 7 Professional 32 bit and am unable to install hotfixes or successfully install any Windows updates. Any pointers?
For your information, I am updating the CBS files

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Can you please confirm you are using a genuine copy of Windows.

The reason I ask is that if you are using a suspect copy of Windows, one of the first things to happen is what you are experiencing, in that you won't be able to install hot fixes and/or updates.

You may want to download and install the System Updates Readiness Tool (SURT).

The link is for the 32-bit version, which is what you're using according to your specs.

Download: System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 (KB947821) [February 2012] - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

If System Updates Readiness Tool (SURT) still doesn't fix it try System Restore

If that also doesn't fix the problem: Repair Install

If none of these suggestions work then please try to do a clean re-install of Windows 7. If your Installation DVD is not slip-streamed with SP1 then before doing the clean reinstall please download SP1 separately and then only clean reinstall. Please apply the SP1 immediately after you have clean installed Windows.

    Good luck.

It is not clear if the reported problem is solved or not. Did you mean that after clean re-installing Windows, you are unable to connect to the Net?
