this is a serious question about microsoft

does anyone share my belief that Microsoft makes good and bad operating systems on purpose to force people to keep buying their product Vista was a pain to learn but after service pack 1 was quite usable then service pack 2 not much difference then they bring out windows 7 pain with drivers at first then service pack 1 and we now have a simple fully functional operating system then windows 8 which made computer too complicated 8.1 still no good 8.1 leaked update still no good already talking about threshold or windows 9. I think Microsoft should give any computer user a option to have whichever operating system they prefer with any new laptop or pc purchased new free of charge. ie OEM supplied disc. people have been forced to purchase windows 8 if they wanted new laptop then have to buy 7 to upgrade yes in my opinion upgrade adding another £50 to the original purchase price of the laptop Microsoft should be made to refund any computer purchaser the cost of replacement operating system. this is my opinion and is not about slagging off operating system freedom of choice is how I see it.

    Strongly disagree.

Producing a bad operating system would be bad for business and would serve no useful purpose. You have not explained how doing so would force people to continue buying Microsoft products. What could be better for business than to consistently produce good and popular operating systems? I firmly believe that is what they are trying to do. But all individuals and organizations make mistakes. Many companies have gone disastrously wrong and gone out of business as a result.

In any event whether or not an operating system is bad is a matter of opinion. You may consider Vista and Windows 8 as bad operating systems but there are many who will disagree.

Designing an operating system is about making decisions. Often they are hard, sometimes very hard. Sometimes no matter what decision you make someone will say it was a stupid one. You can't please everybody.

Producing a bad but functional operating system is very easy if you have a good one to start with. Why would Microsoft have spent millions in research and development for Vista just to produce a bad OS? On the other hand, producing a good OS is hard, very hard. There is far more involved than you can imagine.

I don't believe any company would plan to make junk just so their next product looks better.
    1. It cost to much money to produce junk.
    2. Junk put a bad taste in the consumers mouth.
    3. The competition would take advantage of such things to take part of your market share.
Their are many more reasons that no company would do such a thing intentionally. Companies do make mistakes and they pay for them.

Microsoft hits Win 98 , Win XP , Win 7.
Piles off steaming poo Win ME , Vista ,Win 8.1
The pattern is clear every good popular successful MS OS is followed by a bad one.
Looking forward to Win 9 should be very good .
