Windows 7: HP G62 - 144DX won't boot past HP screen

I linked your Manual in my last post which shows how to remove your HD.

If you created a bootable stick from free PW it might not work as that is a paid feature. You can use PW from Hiren's Boot Disk which also has a wide choice of HD diagnostics and wiping (DBAN) apps. It also should autostart without user input. Hiren's BootCD From USB Flash Drive (Pen Drive) www.hiren.info

Here is the menu of everything included on Hiren’s BootCD 15.1.
The free apps are marked Freeware while those which have some paid features are marked Shareware.

Things just got worse.

CD wouldn't boot, made a flash drive and that wouldn't boot. My brother seemed to think that it might be a corrupted stick of RAM, so I tried each one at a time. Then I put them both in and now the screen won't come on at all (the power still turns on). He knows more about what he's doing with that than me, though, and he'll be back home in a few hours or so and he'll take a look. Hopefully that's easy enough to fix.

EDIT: I didn't unplug the computer before removing and replacing the RAM. Is that what did it?

You should have unplugged the PC and battery, drained power from it by holding the power button before messing with the RAM. Did you at least have it powered down?

Remove the RAM sticks then power up to see if mobo produces beeps which will mean mobo is OK. Then power down, unplug and drain power, insert one RAM stick again to see if it starts.

Remember to touch metal on the case with one hand before touching any of the electronics, to guard against static shock which can ruin the mobo.

Yeah, it was off and the battery was out. Just still plugged in. But it should beep on its own, right? 'Cause it's not beeping at all.

It should beep if there are no RAM sticks plugged in. Did you guard against static shock?

Plug a stick in the slot closest to the processor. Make sure you haven't bent any pins, don't force it, just coax it patiently into the slot until it locks down. What happens?

Yeah, I guarded against shock, unplugged it, held the power button down. Took both sticks of RAM out, and there was no sound.

I just gently stuck one back in. They go one on top of the other, and I put one in the back slot. Nothing happens. The computer turns on and just sits there. Although there is one difference. With no RAM sticks in the light on the Caps lock button would flash. With one in it stopped flashing.

It's possible there is no speaker or beep on your mobo if RAM is unplugged. You can always go the the Support Downloads webpage for your mobo model to read the Manual to see.

Fill in your System Specs in the bottom left corner of post so that a hardware expert can help you further with that.

I'm not sure where I can find that information. Do you think it would be a good idea to try to find a repair shop to take it to, or is all hope lost with that idea?

You said your brother is tech savvy and is the one who suggested removing the RAM. Can he figure out what happened?

I'll ask a hardware expert to look at this.

Yeah, he took a look but he's not really sure what the problem is. I'll wait to see if you can find someone to help.

I definitely appreciate your help and patience with me.
