Desktop icon problem, programs in start menu problem and more...

    Hello guys,

For some reason my computer have some problem(s) that I don't know where it come from and how to solve it.
I got this problem for 3 days and I have tried to fix it but to no avail and i have pretty much lost hope, because I have some important documents for school etc. and videos, pictures that i dont want to lose it and I have a presentation over 3 weeks.....and I am regretting not having made a backup..>.<

    Here are the issues:

When I try to log in on my computer I get a message that says:
"The group policy client service failed the logon, Access denied."
Then it log off and returned to the profile selection screen.

After that I tried to log in via "Safe mode" and it work without getting the message:
"The group policy client service failed the logon, Access denied."

But here comes my next problem. (Those problems is only on safe mode since I cant log in normally):

When I log in via Safe mode, my desktop icons are gone and my background is black. Also some of my programs in my startmenu are gone.

On my "computer" (windows+E or via the startmenu) some folders on the left panel are gone. When i right click and click on " show all folders" nothing happen.

See screenshot/link: ( I hope the screenshot is big enough...)

    Things that I tried:

    1. Chkdsk (doesnt find any problem)
    2. SFC/scannow (found some corrupted files)
    3. System restore (didn't help at all...)

My other problem is (also in safe mode):
In my profile: c:/users/eric (personal profile) I only got:

    Appdata
    Contacts
    Desktop
    ntuser

Here is the screenshot of it:

But what is causing this problems? is it the userprofile or??
Well I will not try to fix my computer now, that if i do something wrong that all my files are deleted (videos, pictures, documents and files that were on my desktop). Unless there is a solution =/.
Or is there is a way for me to extract my videos, pictures and documents to my external hdd and then reinstall windows7??

when sfc found the corrupted files did it fix them?
Did you run it from an elevated command prompt?
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    Were you asked to reboot?

is this computer on a domain? Have you fiddled with group policy settings at all?

You may need to just create a new profile under an administrative account and migrate stuff from your old profile.

@Maguscreed: It says it found corrupted files and it couldnt fix all problems and that the system repair take effect after reboot. I did that, but nothing happened and the problem is still there.
question: if it found corrupted files do i need to type sfc/verifyonly after it completes it scans?

@event3horizon: With domain you mean if my computer is on a network?

I don't have fiddled with the group policy settings, i dont even know what it is ;p

I will try to create a new account, but how should I migrate stuff between profiles?
sorry I have not much knowledge about computer.

In my profile: c:/users/eric (personal profile) I only got:

    Appdata
    Contacts
    Desktop
    ntuser

Here is the screenshot of it: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/38/86959947.png/

If I migrate the profile to my other account will the video, picture folder show again?

a domain is not necessarily being on a network but all domains are on networks. You can be networked but not be on a domain. A computer that connects to a domain is most likely to be a corporate computer of some sort.

So I was basically asking if this is a work laptop and do you connect at work with it.

I have created a new profile as administrator, but when I log with that new profile i get a message that says:
c:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\desktop couldn't located. And it logged in with a default profile with my desktop black and all icons except my trash can are missing.

Is it still worth to migrate my old profile to my new (broken?) account.
and my old profile have only this files:

    Appdata
    Contacts
    Desktop
    ntuser

except my videos, pictures, documents etc. (anime movies, photos and school documents)
