Upgrading to 64 bit. Where are color & appearance setting stored?

I will be upgrading my PC to 64 bit next week. Does anyone know where the settings for the personalization (mainly color and appearance) are stored? It's a real pain and lots of time to try and guess what I had before a reinstall.

Anything else I should know before upgrading?

Thanks for any help.

Hello CR,

Here you go.

Window Color and Appearance - Change

You will not be able to upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit though. That would require a clean install instead.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Brink, thanks your fast reply.

I was hoping that I could copy the setting from maybe the registry and paste them into the 64 b it. Oh well !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

32-bit and 64-bit Windows: frequently asked questions

As Brink says, you will need to carry out a clean install, which means you'll have to re-install all your applications.

When you do, any 32-bit applications will be installed under Program Files (x86) while any 64-bit applications will be installed under Program Files.

You will also find you have the choice of Internet Explorer 9 in the 32-bit version and the 64-bit version.

It's recommended that you use the 32-bit version because of compatibility issues.

Window color (sic) and appearance.
I've recently gone from XP to Win. 7. Had a fair (or unfair) few problems with stuff that doesn't want to work on Win 7. My latest grouse is that I can't 'personalize' my PC as I could with XP. I'm told that the thing only works with Windows Basic 7 or Ease of Access themes. I've set the 'Basic'...
