Desktop icons disappeared when keyborad cleaned

Hi there , my child thought she was doing me a favor cleaning my keys on my laptop but the laptop was still on and now all my desktop items have disappeared , any help restoring these would be great thanks

My first thought is to > right click on Desktop > View > Show desktop icons

My thoughts too.

Whatever was deleted should be in the Recycle Bin.

The best option would be not to put files directly on the desktop, but keep them in separate folders (Libraries like My Documents, My Pictures etc), and for most frequently used files, keep shortcuts of them on the desktop.

This will save your actual files from accidents like this. All you loose are the shortcuts but the files remain safe.
