Very wierd copy and paste issue

This is the first time I encountered a issue like this.

I have a CD that contains a bunch of files. I created a New Folder on my desktop to copy all the contents on that CD to the new folder. When I highlight all and press Ctrl + C then Ctrl + V to copy to the new folder the transfer bar appears showing the status of the transfer.

The strange thing is after it's done copying to the new folder the new folder is empty!?!

Then I tried to copy the contents of the CD again, this time it worked.

Very weird, has anyone encountered this problem before?

Typically I highlight the files to be copied and simply right click to copy and right click a second time in the next explorer window for a copy and paste op. On a few occasions the file copy process simply stops as if it was complete while someone else had ended the task on you prematurely.

I never create and folders on the desktop but create them when having an explorer window open with a second as well being the source whether disk or folder usually on a different drive. When a folder is later found empty I know that there were simply too many tasks going on at the same time tieing up resources and why the second copy + paste is then required.

I had the same issue before with the same problem. Turned out to be a driver problem with the device (LG BDRW) drivers had to uninstall then reinstall the same drivers and that corrected the problem.

I've never encountered the problem, under any circumstances. I also try to avoid having too many programs open at once.

Have you ever noticed the problem when you:
    1. Make the selection.
    2. Right-click on an element in the selection AND
    drag-and-drop to the destination?

When you follow this approach,ie, right-click then you get a list giving you the option of copying, moving, etc.

I can't. I tried to copy and paste from CD to new folder multiple times and each time it copied.

That could be a possibility. I am using modified firmware on my Samsung SH-S223F.

I appreciate you trying to help

Ok, I found where the CD was copied to, the Downloads folder under the Users folder. A folder I never use, even during the XP days.

I don't know how it got there but that at least it solves my mysterious ghost copy issue.

*edit* - Retracing the steps I must've accidentally pressed the Downloads folder on the left pane under Favorites. Sorry to have wasted your time guys!

With a clean install of Windows pending I won't be worried about the sudden dropoffs of any copy and paste from drive to drive. Lately that has been seen on more then one occasion. Once you highlight the exact same files from the source folder and right click to paste in the destination the second C+P attempt sees automatic results.
