    Taskbar icons

Hello.I have windows 7 4gb Ram 500gb hdd.Regarding programs running from the taskbar icons,What I'm thinking about would it be okay to have a word document,Photoshop,Windows Media player,Snipping tool,Thunderbird email,& maybe a spreadsheet all open the same time but closed down to the taskbar.
Would it be okay to have all those running in the backround then if I require a word document just click on the icon in taskbar and hey presto away we go ans so on?
Hope that I have explained myself okay?
    Many thanks.

presumably you mean have the programs open but minimized, that would be ok,
if you mean have them running all the time each time you start the computer until you decide you want to use them, that would make little sense.

personally unless i was working on different things at the same time i wouldn't have many programs running .
it may even cause slow downs when you want to use word for example if loads of stuff is open.
