I get the WMI & the i8042prt every time I turn on PC. It's been awhile but did try to find an answer for WMI but what I found was over my head, will try again. The i8042prt all concern the keyboard but that's all I know so far, guess I'd best do further search on that too.

Yes it's office software. What made me ask was when I searched the error from you snip most of the links was about share point. I'll keep looking.

Keyboard File

The i8042prt.sys is a keyboard file. see this link.

What is the i8042prt.sys file?

If you have a WMI error make a snip of it and post it. The WMI error could be causing the i8042 error.

In the meantime call up some of your ms apps such as task scheduler. Look in the services panel and confirm you can start and stop service. What I am getting at is you could have some wmi files corrupted. It will show up with some of these feautres.

If the WMI is corrupt we can fix that.

Thanks Hammer, will get on that in a minute but I came here to post something that I just found. (old hat to you guys but new to me) I had used msconfig the other day & if I remember right there were just a few items listed there, then a few minutes ago I was snooping around in CCleaner & found what they have. I think the 'Windows' list is probably the same but then there's more in an IE tab. And actually I think it was slowness online that prompted my original post.

HP Printer

I would think that your printer is not working. When you get to it check your services panel. In the panel look for "DCOM Server Process Launcher". Is it running? If not try to start it. The not running dll's you see in CC are caused by some service not running. I think.

Sometimes the program VEW, by Vino Rosso can give you a bit more info to work with.
Download http://images.malwareremoval.com/vino/VEW.exe and save it to your desktop.

***Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 you will need to right click the file and select Run as administrator and click Continue or Allow at the User Account Control Prompt.

Click the check boxes next to Application and System located under Select log to query on the upper left

Under Select type to list on the right click the boxes next to Error and Warning Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 also click the box next to Critical (not XP).

Under Number or date of events select Number of events and type 20 in the box next to 1 to 20 and click Run

Once it finishes it will display a log file in notepad
Please copy and paste its entire contents into your next reply
