@grits: Sometimes icons get messed up. WinMail is not really supported in Win7, so there's always a good chance that it is going to be affected by things you're doing to chase down other issues. The main thing is, if you can still launch WinMail, you're alright.
To change the icon: Right click on the shortcut, select properties, hit the Change Icon button and select whichever one you like.

My concern today is my post # 38. My bad for not starting a new thread I suppose but clearing the EV & running the MSFixit were the only things I did yesterday & hadn't done anything yet this morning when I noticed the change.
To keep things orderly that question probably should have been asked back in the WinMail thread with a reference pointing back to this thread. I'll cut you some slack, for now, you're feeling your way around the forum and it's probably easier for you to track what you're doing if it's all in one place. But....... at some point you'll know your way around and it will help other people if posts/threads are in logical places.

Thanx, will try the change icon.

Yes, I debated about posting in WinMail. Now ya gotta teach me how to 'point a reference back'.

I did some searching on it & found some reference to the change possibly coming from the MSFixit.

I'll mark this thread solved.
