    Open folder layout

My desktop behavior has recently changed. When opening a desktop folder, i like to have it open on the right side of the screen, with small icons, and the icons organized to suit me. Until recently, this has been the case. Now when I open a desktop folder, it opens in the middle of the screen, and the icons are arranged in a grid alphabetically (at least I got it to remember small icon view). Is there a way to change this behavior? Remember, I'm asking about folders arranged on my desktop, not in explorer.

    welcome to sevenforums freakazoid
try moving the window to where you want it to open then close it, re-opening it should have it open in the last position it was at.
for the icons- if you right click your desktop does the "view"context menu show align icons to grid as ticked?, if so untick it and rearrange your icons the way you want.

Sorry, forgot to mention all of the obvious stuff has been tried. In all cases, the folder reverts to this standard view of opening in the middle of the screen with the icons aligned to a grid and arranged alphabetically.

try running a sfc scan, be aware that if you have certain third party theme customizations they will revert to win 7 defaults
