A Random question about win7 services.

I am wondering does Windows 7 have some built in service that when the pc is idle for X amount of time it makes the hdd go nuts? When this happens the hdd access light on the front of my pc stays solidly lit, I don't like the wear and tear on my hdd is there anyway to disable this "Feature"?

So you rather the computer do its background tasks while you are actively using your computer instead? Just live it be and get its job done, the sooner it will let your drive sleep. If you were that concerned about wear and tear on your HDD...remove it and put it into a safe.
