Reinstall Smart Card Services

Hi all,

I have a problem on a Windows 7 64bit computer. I can't get the Smart Card service to work. Now I tried registering the dll's with the regsvr32 but some of them were unable to load or are probably damaged.

My question is: How can I delete the entire service including all the dlls and other files associated with that server and do a "clean install"?

I have been looking around and came across this cmd below. However I couldn't find caller.inf in the inf dir. Is it standard present in Windows 7 or not?


sysocmgr.exe /i %windir%\inf\caller.inf

If you suspect that system files are corrupt, you could run sfc /SCANNOW from an elevated command prompt.

Ok, i will try. Does the scan also replace missing files needed for the smard card service to work or is their a pack somewhere I can download?

Welcome to Seven Forums de7erv. It will replace any corrupted system files. Including those used for the smart card service, assuming that is the problem.

Thanks for the help and explanation but the system checked reveiled nothing wrong with the system. I tried to register the dll's myself but I keep getting weird errors like this:





I looked up the file on my computer and it's present. But when I tried to register it, it failed. What could cause this?

I found out that there are backups of those files in the WinSxS folder. Should I use these files to restore them?

Translation of the second screenshot is: The module scardssp.dll can't be found. Make sure the binairy file is stored at the appropriote path, find the rror by looking for problems with the binairy file or dlls who depend upon it.
