I can't seem to reproduce any of those errors on my machine. Add on programs and drivers seem to be the cause of problems like this. If it was a true Windows bug we should all be seeing the same problem.

Finally! Someone who knows what I'm talking about! Yes Firefox does seem to be the only application which triggers the Windows Live Messenger bug when I minimise Firefox!
And yes you seem to be experiencing the same bug in WMP as me too!
To the rest: People I am using all drivers which are certified either by MS or other vendors. My graphics driver has WHQL mark. Only software I am using which isn't fully W7 compatable is Firefox 3.5.2.
@ Dazeon
Please let me know if you find any more info on the 2 bugs. Thx :)
Sounds more like two people running to more of a buggy circumstance where these only appear under cetain conditions. Maybe you shoud taking notes on what things are the same on both of your systems but not on others. Then you can submit some feedback you have documented once you know what the cause is for each.
Is anyone else having the Windows Media Player 12 bug I mentioned in OP?
I've only just looked at this thread. Ref the media player problem, maybe it's a bug in W7, or maybe it's just a case of MS enforcing some stricter rules, causing some s/w that used to work to now have problems. I certainly don't know the answer, but I suggest that MS should investigate, even if the outcome is to simply say 'If this (xyz) isn't done correctly, the app may fail in the manner described...' or some such.
The reason for my interest can be seen by looking at a thread I started elsewhere

After invoking, using, and exiting PowerDesk, a subsequent attempt to invoke it again results in a running process that can be seen in TaskManager, but no GUI. Another attempt to invoke it results in another process, but again no GUI. This will go on, presumably until you run out of memory. However, killing those processes until there is just one left magically causes the GUI to pop up, and everything is back to normal.
This doesn't happen **every** time that PD is invoked again after a previous use, but it's often enough to be a problem. I had suspected that it might have been because I was running W7 x64. However, one of the responders to my thread was running 32-bit W7, and I note that the OP of this thread is also running 32-bit.
I have also heard (once, no documentation, etc) from someone, to the effect of 'yeah, I've seen something like that...'. So maybe there are a number of apps that could exhibit similar problems.
My W7 x64 (i7, 6GB, ATI HD4870, 2TB disk) is rock solid, all networking (wired and wireless) sorted completely, sharing going just right, Virtualbox running like a dream, etc. So I don't put any of this down to a flaky installation (RC1 7100).
It would be interesting to hear about any other apps that fail to bring up their GUI sometimes.

I've been running WMP 12 here practically daily for both video and audio tracks leaving the visualizations running without one glitch being seen. This is still in the 64bit RC as well. When running the 32bit RC on the vhd at times for a few tracks that always seemed to be troublefree as well.
This bug with WLM has been know for a long time, at least by me since Beta 7000, I'm sure others. Seems no one has posted the usual quick fix to stop WLM buggy behavior...which is to Run it in Vista compatibility mode, and that minimizing behavior should stop. It will also put it into the system tray under compatibility mode. Not sure why they haven't fixed it in WLM yet, I'm pretty sure that it was reported in the earlier days.
Windows Live Messenger - Taskbar or Notification Icon
If you do a search, I'm sure you will find older threads mentioning these various problems with WLM. Here's a few examples...
Firefox/Windows Live messenger on windows 7
Windows Messenger pops up when I minimize another......
Problems with Windows Live Messenger 9.0.
MSN messenger???
any way to minimize windows Live messenger to tray?
I tend to agree readily there despite seeing the latest version of WLM go on. At times when leaving messenger active but idle for several hours since it alerts you to any new incoming mail I suddenly get a pink banner running across stating some connection problem has been seen with your hardware?! Once I close it out and resign in it comes back to life in an instant.

Yes I knew about the other threads on WLM. I am just very surprised that hardly anyone else has the WMP 12 bug, which has been the biggest annoyance for me. To the point where I just don't put my laptop to sleep anymore. I tried 'googling' the bug but no use...
One thing to try if you have WLM active at the same time you want to run WMP is to uncheck the automatic connect online option in the WMP settings. When WMP isn't set to auto connect it won't in any conflict with WLM or vice versa simply being run offline.
When messenger in particular is active it seems to grab at bandiwdth when having multiple IE windows open at the same time.
