RC1 7100 expired -- any hope?

For various reasons I have not been able to run my Windows 7 for quite a while. I installed RC1 build 7100. Now when I boot up it says it is not genuine, and does not even give me a start menu. I read the expiry date for this version was Aug 1 2009, but there is supposed to be one that does not expire until sometime in 2010. There is nothing available for download from the microsoft site at this time.

Is there any way to update/upgrade this, or am I just completely out of it now?

The RC build is the one that runs until march 2010 - if you have a valid key you should be able to enter the key to get it working again. Although the download of 7100 has stopped I believe that keys are still available .

If the version you have is 7000 beta then there is not much you can do without a copy of 7100 until the official release

Is this possible - the trial key was not activated within 30 days? A simple activation might correct this.

All the info listed here, sounds like
1. you have installed a (patch or crack)
2. Recommend you do a TOTAL CLEAN install, leave the cracks alone.
3. wait for RTM to be released
4. if your time runs out in 30 days... use the legit -rearm for additional 30 days. this you can do 3x times.. or additional 90 days to the original which is 120 days.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Here are some answers to your questions/comments:

1) it is not a crack, it is rc1 build 7100 from microsoft.

2) it was activated after install, but never renewed (the 30 days at a time thing)

3) there is no way to activate now. this is not limited functionality it is zero functionality. after the "you're not genuine" notice, I get a black screen, no start menu. if I do the three finger salute I get a chance to run task manager. But from there I can not run anything else (file/run). cmd does not work, explorer does not work, not even any of the .cpl applets. Barman58 said I would be out of luck if it was beta build 7000 ... but oddly enough I am in better shape on a second machine that does have that beta installed. It too complains about not being genuine, but at least I get a start menu after that.

F17ZY suggested finding a 7600 ... does anybody know where I can download it that it is not a crack?

If I install something new over it, 7100 again, 7600 if I can find it, or even Vista ... what happens to any apps I may have installed? Is there any way to preserve them?

Why is 7100 being so much worse than 7000 in this expired/not genuine state?

This notice will only appear if some sort of tampering is detected by the OS... it is not something that will randomly appear for no reason. At this point Im not sure that a re-arm command will work, as the OS is reporting your copy as Not Genuine ... you can try it but I wouldnt hold my breath...

Do you still have the install media and valid Key from Microsoft, If so a repair install may preserve the majority of your existing install - I believe Brink has a tutorial on this site if you are not familiar with the proceedure
