Computer is great in safe Mode!

My computer runs like grease lightning in safe mode, and my internet speeds are marvellous also, but alas when not in safe mode I have on quite a few occasions lately had my Windows freeze, my Windows Live Mail also freeze.
I will define freeze...................everything just does not work, my browser Firefox/Google, none of my loaded programs.
I have to leave the computer (otherwise I would throw it in the air) for about 10 minutes, and then it is perfect all day!, so I am guessing a program is causing the dilemma, but which one? I have about 60 applications running and I haven't loaded a new one in about 6 months.
Is there a program I can purchase/download that would seek out the rogue program if indeed it is a rogue program.
    Any enlightenment would be great.

CCleaner has start options. You could use that program to turn features off or on. There is also msconfig, built into Windows.

CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download CCleaner is available free from Piriform. You can find Startup in Tools.

    Freezing computer

I would start by load ing up Task Manager and use the Processes tab (enable All Processes from all users) and then you can monitor which processes are taking up all the CPU time.

Some security programs, and updaters can hog cpu time a lot.

Also, try running Hijack This program and run an analysis on your PC here:

Some useful tips there, I'm going out in about 10 minutes, so will fire up the computer in the morning and give them a whirl.
Would it do any harm to to change my boot sequence to cdrom & do a repair with my windows disc?

Thought I would do the easy stuff first.
    Launched Task manager:
On my desktop (running Chrome as browser) I have 6 tabs showing, on my Task manager I have it showing that I have 8 Google chrome processes running, ranging from 6588k up to a couple of the processes showing 85860k & the top one running at 90804k CPU showing 0-5%, but obviously computer working well a the moment, are these normal working sets?.

In Task Manager do you have 60 applications running ?
Or, do you have 60 processes running ?

For me 60 processes is no big deal, but I can't ever remember running anywhere near 60 applications...

I don't use Chrome so i can't help with that question.
