Restarting during gaming or playing movies sounds like it could be an overheating issue. What exactly happens when it restarts? Do you get any error messages or does the system just cut off without warning?

Hi and welcome to the sevenforums, mcvickar

Restarting seems like it could be something else than overheating as well. Usually when overheating it will shutdown and not restart, at least that is my experience.

What could be happening here is you might be getting BSODs, but the system is set for automatic restart. Do you have a .dmp file in c:\windows\minidump? If folder doesn't exist, this means that you're not getting blue screens.

What drivers would you install for VLC player?

Have you tried reinstalling VLC?

Rollback all your files, registry keys and installed programs to previous state using system restore option in start menu. This would prevent the problem of getting restart every time you play games.

Disable the automatic reboot on BSOD's so you can get the error information next time it happens.

I've disabled auto reboot on BSOD's system still restarts without warning. My games play fine so i doubt it has anything to do with graphics or RAM, but i can only play few minutes then system reboots. im out of ideas now.Same happens when watching movies doesnt matter which media player i use. (sigh) Im out of ideas now guys. Could the problem possibly have anything to do with Operating System?

Have you looked in Event Viewer for any errors when this happens?
