    Out of memory problem

I've got a web design program called ezgenerator4 and one of my projects which is around 400mb keeps getting out of memory problems. When this happens I loose all the work I've done during the time its been open. For example if I've worked on quite a few web pages and then try to close the program which also saves the work I might get an error which says "not enough memory to complete this operation" which means I have to go into task manager and manually close it which loses my work. I've got 8gb of ram which I thought would have been enough. When I check the resource monitor the commit column keeps increasing as I'm using the program and opening more pages, when it exceeds a certain amount it crashes. The other day I checked after I'd done quite a lot of work and the commit value had increased to around 700,000kb which was obviously over the limit because it came up with the dreaded "not enough memory to complete this operation" which meant all my work for the day had gone. I've had a clean re-install of windows7 but the problem is still there. I've asked about this on the ezg forum but they can't seem to find a soloution apart from maybe deleting a lot of pages to make the project smaller which I don't really want to do. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like an inherent problem in the program if it's persisting across a clean Windows install. It doesn't sound like this is something wrong with the OS if the program is chewing up memory until it crashes. Even though you aren't having much luck on the software's forum, they are better suited to figure out the solution to this problem that is specific to that program.

I looked on the website and saw that Windows 7 is supported so I'd think they would have better insight into why these problems are occurring. Do you have another system you could try/use this on?

Hello finestrat, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Do you have your page file still set to be managed by the system? If the page file was turned off or set to low, then that could cause low or out of memory errors as well.

    Hope this may help,
    Shawn

Thanks Shawn I'll have a look at this but I've got a feeling I've already tried it.
