Shrinking drive space, need help!

Ok I don't know how to word this nor have any searches produced results I need, i checked for the hyperfil.sys (no go btw) as i cleared that out, and i think this is a virus (unplugged my network cable), and what leads me to think virus is that my drive space (free) is literally shrinking in front of my eyes as im watching it...and I know i have a masive drive so i should have a few hundred gigs still left free...so what do you all think is going on here? virus or something else? i don't want to try and download any thing or install anything till i sort this out...

EDIT: update: unplugged my ethernet cable and now my drive (C:\) went from 0.001mb free out of 465GB to 430GB free of 465GB (where it should be) so yea whats going on, did I just get hit with a virus or something, windows defender says things are normal, my AV is scanning right now so im awaiting results to see if it finds something...this is really concerning me and freaking me out somewhat as I use this computer alot and access it from others in the house every day...

Run a full scan with Malwarebytes.

Flush your DNS cache: type CMD in Start Search box, rightclick result to Run as Admin, type ipconfig /flushdns

It could be some other anomaly besides a virus attack having to do with your DNS cache.

What you described isn't necessarily virus behavior.

ok cool, ill flush it after the AV scan is complete, I just like to know why im doing something before i really go and do it....

i did boot to safe mode with networking (to update any av definitions) and ran a complete system scan with avast free av program, so far nothing bad found!!

EDIT: system scan (full) is complete (used avast anti virus) and it found nothing, so rebooted back in normal mode, going to try clearing out teh DNS if needed...

ok I think i got the drive bit resolved but now for what ever reason the stupid explorer seems to want to lock up, not sure if running my computer all day has any thing to do with it but i try to kill it and it just locked up...heck it just locks up period, only started after I put avast in so im gonna try removing that to see if that is what is causing the machine to lock up on me....

uninstalled avast, rebooting, now

ok avast removed, and system working smoother, installing better (IMO) av software that I know has worked on my other machines in the past...

Install Microsoft Security Essentials.

Run SFC -SCANNOW Command.

Then run Disk Check on all partitions with both boxes checked.

way a head on the MSE there my friend, thanks tho for the link, gonna grab it on my flash drive so i can just run it off that, also ran malwarebytes and that type of thing....so far things are looking better....

UPDATE:

found 4 odd, and/or mysterious files on C:\ and at the time my free space was 175 or really close to that (in GB) and after I removed the 4 files my free space jumped back up to around 350 ish (or close to that...) don't know what they were or called as it appeared to be long numbers and letters...so i hope that resolved the issue....will report tomorrow when i get on the computer...
