I should probably note that my problem was being generated by a timing setting with my RAM . . . would have expected more dramatic results as a cause of this!

Did that solve your 'pausing' issue? How did you diagnose that? I checked my RAM settings and they seem fine. I want to swap out the RAM and see what difference that makes.

I had an application called mac drive installed, i uninstalled that, and now my pauses are less frequent and not as lengthy, but still there.

I read that the type of ssd(Crucial CT256M4) i am running was causing weird pauses and that it was necessary to upgrade the firmware, but that was already done when i received the drive.

So...all in all, still not solved. sigh

No, although there was a small timing issue, my 'Random Freezing' was due to extended hdd AHCI link power management issues and an SSD drive that I have. Something changed in firmware that made the freezing start when I had updated.

Try this it worked for my SSD set DIPM AHCI Link Power Management - Enable HIPM and DIPM

Thanks, that seems like a really good suggestion which would probably fix my problem, but already I have run into some red tape; I have an HP notebook and all I can do in my BIOS is change the time and the boot order, so after some research on the bios software, I found that I have to ask someone to hack my bios software so I can gain access to options like enabling AHCI. I dont really want to do this, because Murphy is always lurking and I can see my notebook ending up bricked, but I will if there are no other suggestions....

I really don't see this as hijacking, if the other user has a similar issue. Hopefully during the brainstorming process both of our issues will get sorted out, but since you told him to start another thread, maybe his issue gets sorted out there and then I wont know about it....
