Are you going to upgrade to Windows 8?

The Start Menu isn't gone. That big blocky thing with the large squares IS the start menu. It serves the same purpose, but the look is different, and the objects on it are large so a user can push them on a touch screen. All one needs is to learn three or four new keyboard commands and the new Start Menu will become 2nd nature.

Faster? A little. Perhaps 5% to 30% faster compared to Windows 7. It depends on what program a user is running and the computer's hardware, etc.

I will pass on Windows 8 because it will not allow me to set up the machine in the "Classic" mode; that is without the stupid and vague pastel transparent colors that make it difficult to see what objects are really in focus in the menus.

Also, the blue window on bootup with the black background is visually jarring, and annoys me to see it.

Besides, why should I have to hit three or four keys to do something when only one key function is required in Windows 7?

The new Reset and Refresh features (used to be called Backup and Restore) are overly complicated and much to slow.

Sound nit picky? Probably, but that's my reaction to the interface.

I won't be upgrading to w8 for the reason of. I have it dual booted on my system and I find it runs slow and I really dislike the ui. I will be for sure skipping w8 and keeping seven as well. Id still have xp but I built a new system and the only way to take full advantage of my hardware was to use 7. But I love 7 Niice easy to use ui.

No way!!! It's simply horrible and difficult to use. It's solely designed for tablets which make impossible to use on a real computer under a real production environment. And since compared to Win7, it has lost many important features without having anything new, it should be called a downgrade instead, it's a plain worse option.

I may install it again on a virtual machine, just to test it a run some software of mine for testing, but possibly never on a real one. This one is going to be a big failure, like Vista and Millennium.

Windows 8 i have tried and i personally find it terrible, it is to ... well media based to me. Not my role, Plus in general i think the tiles are horrifying.

I don't want to upgrade to Windows 8, as it will cause system very unstable.

I upgraded from windows 7 to Linux Mint. I got so tired of ''xxxxx is not responding" or "Updates are being installed" ...a 5 year old HP laser Printer never worked with Win 7 but with Mint it installed first time and works perfectly. Mint is a beautiful system , light , stable and easy to use. Oh and free. It boots up in a third of the time that Win7 does. Windows 8 .. no thanks I will not pay for a system which looks like its made for a teenagers mobile phone

No reason to upgrade to windows 8 at all, it will be the mess Windows ME and Vista were. I shall wait till they fix everythng and then go to Windows 9.......

That metromess? Not a chance.
I wouldn't even consider downgrading to W8! That's why I just bought a brand new W7. I intend to run W7 until Microsoft comes to their senses, and that might be quite a while.
I'm not a Microsoft hater, I've bought XP, Vista, and W7, and W7 was the best of them all! So what does Microsoft want to do with their best OS ever?
They wanna kill it and replace it with Metromess 8.
