Taskbar icons and installation path

Hello. I'm having two problems with Windows 7, so I was hoping if anyone can help me with these problems.

1. My computer has SSD and HDD, so to save as much space as possible on my SSD drive I switched the default installation directory from my C drive (SSD) to my D drive (HDD). The problem is, whenever I install a program to my D drive, I can't seem to open the program through Start -> All Programs -> Program name. Here's a screenshot.

That's the message I get whenever I try to open any program from Start.

2. My second problem is the taskbar icon. When I install a new program, some of the taskbar icon changes to.. I'm not sure what it's called. Here's a screenshot.

As you can see, Core Temp (and two other programs toward the right) doesn't show the icon. When I first installed Core Temp and added shortcut to the taskbar, it actually showed the icon.

Any help would be appreciated.
