Windows 7: All audio info missing from mouseover still functions

All audio info missing from mouseover still functions

Hi Folks,

Having just registered I wasn't entirely sure where to post this little annoyance.

Up until last night, prior to closing down the 'puter,I've seen all useful, and relevant information about my multimedia files (audio, video & the 2 combined) appear in the infotip when hovering the mouse pointer over a file, whether it's just an icon,or a thumbnail.

So,I boot up this morning, having not changed a single thing in my windows configuration, only to see that all audio information is now missing,so all I now see on hovering over a video file, for example is:

itemtype:vlc media file (.mp4)

And that's it,no bitrate, and no audio information whatsoever,so wondered if anyone else has had this happen, and more importantly, have they found a solution?

The videos still play just fine, including the audio,by the way.

Sorry to be longwinded, just thought it better to include all relevant info right from the off.

Win 7 Home Premium 64bit,all up to date.

Phewwww sorted.

Ran sfc /scannow a few times, both at bootup & from within windows, which found nothing amiss,so I finally tried what is now glaringly obvious, and uninstalled, then reinstalled vlc, which needless to say, solved the problem in about 30 seconds.

I feel a bit daft, but it isn't the 1st time, nor do I doubt it'll be the last,so,rather than edit the original post,I'll leave it up there to remind folks (as if they need reminding) that the most obvious, and simplest solutions staring us in the face can often be the most efficient.
