I know there is a tutorial for this somewhere here on the forums that was really good, but I cant find it. How can I enable UAC on my computer to a level which so long as I can provide the password or what ever, there will be nothing Windows wont allow me to do?
Last time I just used the default administrator account to solve this...but that is a pretty flawed solution.

After looking at that though, its really what I had already. I dont mind the fact it asks me to make changes and such, that's good, but there are still some things windows wont allow me to do, e.g. delete files from an old windows backup, because I don't have sufficient administrator privelages. Is there a way to change this?
Well that is something different. You might find this handy: Take Ownership Shortcut - created by Mark
This should allow you to do anything, but read through it before you make changes, because you shouldn't ever 'take ownership' of the C drive, etc. And make sure you are only taking ownership of something that doesn't run your computer
