    MiniTool Partition issue

Ok I see it looks like you guys and gals offer up some good help with this tool,,,although this particular laptop I am having problems with is an XP Pro/Vista I thought I would put it out there to see if what I have been reading here basically applies for it,,, Do I need to run the bootable cd from here?

Partition Wizard : Use the Bootable CD

---vvvvv--- Full question and Problems ---vvvv---

Hi, I just downloaded and have attempted to use this to resize my hard-drive but it asked for a reboot and now it is stuck at the ""the disk configuration is changed,""and gives me 5 options -- Safe mode -- Safe mode w/ networking -- Safe mode w/ command prompt -- Last known Good configuration - Start windows normally -
... I have tried all of these options multiple times and each time, it tries to boot up,, and then just loops back to this screen..

It happens just past the "Windows XP" screen it comes up to my acer laptop screen, i guess maybe where it wants to apply settings or make changes??,,, I haven't really paid that close attention to remember if it does this during previous normal boot ups.... this is where it goes to the
    ""the disk configuration is changed,""

A little more information on what I was doing and what happened...

My Harddrive had 150GB total, with dual boot Vista and XP Pro ...
    C: 50GB (Vista),,, less than 5GB free .....
    D:40GB (XP Pro)
    less than 5GB free... ...
*Sys Restore: 9.8GB approx... and ...
    Unallocated 50GB approx...

I use my "D" (XP Pro) as my main Boot and normal use setup,,, probably haven't booted Vista in over 2 years...

I used MiniTool Partition and selected the unallocated and made it a partition "G" I believe for all 50GB then I resized it down to the minimum it would let me,, approx 80mb?? and selected the rest of the 50GB to resize my "D" up to 90GB

I shut everything off but my antivirus/firewall program -- Comodo CIS...
Then I clicked the apply, it ran through some stuff then asked for the reboot to be able to complete...
That is to where I am at now ... stuck

    Where to go from here

    Thanks

Unfortunately any installed partition manager besides Disk Mgmt can fail with total data loss. That's why we only recommend use of the Partition Wizard boot disk which has never failed in countless thousands of partitioning operations we've helped with here.

You may have a conflict with the Comodo firewall crapware too, which poses many problems. Use the Windows firewall which is perfected in Win7, with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Since you didn't touch Vista, I would boot it's DVD or repair disk, Mark Partition Active and run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times. This will move the System boot files to Vista to start it if still possible, so you can browse into XP to see if it's files are still intact. If so you can install EasyBCD to Vista to add XP on the Add OS Entry tab, see if it will start. EasyBCD (free Download at bottom of page - no name or email required)
