Start off following this thread: Icon Cache - Rebuild

Also do a sfc /scannow after that and reboot when prompted

Let us know ... what is the third party disk/registry cleaner you do use ?

If those suggestions fail, try reinstalling those programs for which ou lost the icons, and stop using any third party cleaner (other than ccleaner) , if you use any.

Use Ccleaner with its default settings, got allow the clean to be aggressive.

What is the situation after rebuilding icon cache and running SFC ? Do you use adobe reader ? Is the icon for that program looking normal ?

Reinstall all the programs those are changed their icons to generic ones. That would be easiest for you among all possible fixes.
