VERY odd laptop issue -- entire case acts as microphone -- solved!

I don't need help for a change but found this one pretty interesting and figured I'd share. I have an ASUS Republic of Gamers G51xxx laptop that had a very odd problem. Whenever you would touch the half of the case that surrounded the monitor, you would get something that resembled white noise out of the speakers! I searched around the web multiple times but never found anybody with a problem similar to mine. It was mildly frustrating, but fortunately I didn't spend a significant part of my computing time fondling my laptop so I lived with it.

Well, a couple weeks ago the laptop's HD up and died. I replaced the HD with an SSD and reloaded a fresh copy of Win 7 (used my own disc instead of manufacturer disc, you'd be amazed at how much bloatware I got rid of!) and for some reason the laptop "microphonic" problem is solved. I have to assume it was some sort of grounding issue that I inadvertently resolved by removing and replacing the back case, but even that sounds like a long shot. I can't believe there was software causing that issue but who knows.

Anyway, why the hell did I wait for my HD to fail to put an SSD in my laptop? So awesome!!!
